A courageous move: taking an American cosmetics brand into the French market. As if the French don’t have enough brands already! Paula’s Choice is an ambitious and fast-growing firm focused entirely on skincare. In early 2020 we received an enquiry through our international network asking whether we could translate texts relating to skincare, initially from English into French.

The requirements were exacting: the translators not only had to be native French speakers, but also had to have sound subject knowledge and a feel for marketing, including SEO. Very importantly too, like in the Netherlands, the texts must not contain any unwarranted medical claims. The agency must be able to demonstrate experience of translating for consumers, and preferably play a proactive role: in other words anticipate the client’s needs.

And that’s precisely how we like to work. The client is currently using a translation management tool that’s compatible with the latest version of the analytical software that VVH uses to support the translation process. That means the file formats are interoperable. After the translation and checks, VVH delivers a ready-to-use language version that can be imported directly into the CMS used by Paula’s Choice.

They also wanted to know if we could supply Danish. Long story short, the websites and online stores in France and Denmark are now operating flat out, with our translations. Soon they’ll add more European countries, all with the help of VVH business translations.
